Introduction to Module 5

In Module 5, we’re going to take a look at more sacred structures—in this case, the temples of the Incans and the Aztecs. The reading will walk you through historians’ and archaeologists’ understandings of Incan sacred structures. After you finish the reading and answer a few questions on your own, you’ll need to work with your group to find similar information about the Aztecs’ sacred spaces and share what you find with the class.

A new kind of activity

This week the course asks you to demonstrate two particular skills: collaboration and research. In this case, I am providing a good deal of scaffolding (read: help) for your research and collaboration, but in the future, I’ll be relying on you to work with others in the course with diminishing assistance and intervention from me.

Assignments

This week, we’re also rolling out two assignments. (Details/links coming Saturday, February 6)

  • The concept map, due in two weeks.
  • Two Perfect Pages, due April 16.
