Middle eastern water woes

March 5, 2016 by indeabennett 1 Comment

draft

If you could rewind time, traveling back to the past to advise Middle Eastern leaders about water resources,

what would you advise them to do? Be specific;

name the country or countries you are talking about, and reference particular engineered structures and systems. What would you keep the same, and

what would you recommend they do differently?

Based on what little you have learned from course readings of the various cultures in the region and the political situations there, do you think the leaders would view your recommendations as worth implementing? Explain your reasoning.

The middle east is already a place were people have to adapt to survive there well, water is a crucial part in being able to survive in these difficult climates. From the inception of the countries water conversations should have been one of the most important focuses. instead many

(insert examples of countries here) water reserves have been used till they dried up or contaminated leaving farmers with out the abilities to maintain crops and cities with out the means to live.

(insert engineered structures/systems that cause this)

(what would you keep the same?/how would you change the problem?)

More info. needed:

(Where would you look to find this information about the past? Again, be as specific as possible.)

– what were past regional weather patterns like? what is the norm for the area’s ?

– population growth and how it attributed to the rate of water consumption both for people and use

-historically what other methods have been used for water ? were they more effective than the systems that lead to the current water state?

Concept map

I did my concept map of cemeteries and how they are effected by urban planning. I choose to compare the Paris Catacombs and the San Francisco cemeteries . First i looked at the where it was happening because the geography of a specific place is very important in understanding why certain choices are made. Also history of a place plays a large apart in it as well. for example both Paris and California created these large burial sites in part by the influence of illness/ hard times.  But also this is due to poor urban planning reactions to growing cities. Paris experienced rapid growth with is proximity to ports and growing population. California was caught in the swell of the gold boom, for a long time there were only one or two cemeteries available in the area and if you died you would be going  to it as well 20160227_225345

first thanksgiving

1.tells the story of the first Thanksgiving as you remember it being taught to you.

There was a group of people in England called the puritans, the king didn’t like the way they practiced religion. So people started talking about going across the ocean to the Americas where the land hadn’t been settled. One group went to Roanok virginia but they were never heard from again. Still the situation was bad enough that people took the mayflower crossed the ocean to what they hoped would be a better life. The trip was longer than any of them had expected and when they arrived it didn’t get any better. They had to build where they would sleep, grow what they would eat and it was very different from the way they had imagined it. For a long time they barely fed all the villagers and their first winter killed more people than they could afford. A native american tribe in the area saw these struggles and after a while they began helping the settlers. The Native Americans were very generous and thanks to them they soon started doing better. The pilgrims were thankful and after the harvest made a feast inviting the Indians to eat with them as thanks.

2. shares any activities you recall being asked to complete (e.g., crafts, shared meals) in your elementary school classroom.

I don’t remember much but i vaguely recall cutting out brown circles (in second grade?) that we glued to paper plates and then finger painted feather onto. We also assembled paper pilgrims that they gave us to take home. I think in third or fourth grade we did small essays on what we were grateful for . And in the cafeteria on the day before thanksgiving break started there would be turkey , mashed potatoes, a roll and jam.
